Material Archiv


 

Material Archiv offers with several material collections and an online database a broad and profound access to material knowledge and materials. Material Archiv is a network of various institutions in the field of design and art. To bring the different institutions together, a uniform visual appearance was needed. At its heart is an intuitive interface that makes it easy for designers, architects and artists to access material knowledge. The interface of the online database is a further development of oSkope and allows working with the material collections. The online database is linked to the individual physical material samples in the collections by means of RFID tags, so that the information can be retrieved in both analytical and sensory ways. Material Archiv was nominated for the ‘Design Award Switzerland’.

Swiss Re Riskscape is a research project that illustrates the global web of risks. The dynamic data visualisation combines several line diagrams on a cylindrical time axis, which show the number of networks. The factors lying next to each other can thus be compared and an overall picture of the development is created.
